Catwalk 2

The Catwalk series of paintings was inspired by my fascination not so much with fashion itself, but with fashion shows as standalone works of art. Their incredible audiovisual presentation, locations in unconventional spaces, and thoughtfully chosen music all focused on the main subject of the event: the clothing. I always perceived a fashion show as a kind of mystery or a living multimedia art gallery. Of course, not all shows have the same quality, but many were interesting enough to compel me to paint a series of works in which the 'catwalk' becomes a medium for creating a specific atmosphere or narrative.
